I attended the 2006 and 2008 National Black Pre-Law Conference. This organization and conference has been very beneficial throughout my law school application process. I feel the conference and the educational experience I received there greatly impacted my acceptance to my law school of choice, as well as acceptance to five other prestigious institutions.

Participation in this conference afforded me the opportunity to network with successful attorneys, current law students, as well as students going through the law school process. I have gained a wealth of knowledge from workshops and seminars on topics such as “Tips for Higher Score on LSAT”, “Challenges as a Minority and a Woman in the Legal Field”, Preparation as a 1L”, “How to Succeed in Law school”, “Passing the Bar”, “Careers in the Legal Field”, and “Financial Services to Pay for Legal Education”. I was also introduced to many programs that aid in the transition to law school as well as summer programs such as CLEO (Council on Legal Education Opportunity). Programs such as these promote and help minorities with applying to and matriculating through law school and passing the Bar exam.  The opportunity to attend this conference gave me insight into the world of a law student and an attorney.

The conference was also very inspirational and motivational. Attending was definitely a wise choice, especially since it provided the encouragement I needed throughout my law school preparation. It taught me that I was not alone in the process and that many other students were experiencing the same challenges I once faced. I have also met some of the most outstanding minority law students who are currently at the top of their classes. Networking and gathering tips for success from those who have come before me or are currently enduring the process has helped me prepare as I embark upon my law school journey. The networking opportunities at the National Black Pre-Law Conference are countless and the relationships I have developed are priceless.

I am excited about attending the 2009 National Black Conference as a law student. I do not want to miss out on any information that would help me throughout this educational journey. I believe that everyone needs an organization and/or people to help them through the rigorous and competitive law school process. I would encourage any student interested in attending law school to attend this conference. A person who does not take advantage of this resource is ultimately cheating themselves of resources, networking, advice, mentorship, and strategies to excel in law school.

Dear Evangeline Mitchell,

I wanted to let you know how much I am inspired by your journey through law school, and thank you for creating this amazing conference.  It has truly been the best experience so far, giving me a much needed confidence boost as I start my own law school process.  I was thoroughly impressed and grateful for all the legal professionals, and school representatives that participated in the panels and law fair.  They were very valuable in addressing my questions, other facts and myths about the law school process, career culture, and preparation for the LSAT.  The extent to which everyone was willing to offer advice and contacts for future inquiries was amazing.  I truly feel more excited to start the law school process, and will definitely advertise next year’s conference at my school.  Keep up the great job!

Sincerely,

Good Afternoon Mrs. Evangeline!

Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of such an inspiring and intriguing event.  I am so thankful for the numerous networking opportunities that were opened up to me because of the conference, the inspiration and all of the information and resources that were provided to me during the event.  You are truly a gift from God!  I know He placed us in each others’ lives for a reason and I THANK HIM FOR IT.  Your personality, your drive and your willingness to help others is so admirable!!  I could go on and on, but basically I just want to thank you for this wonderful opportunity that you gave me.

I wish I would have been exposed to the information when I was in high school because I believe it would have put me on the right track earlier.  I am willing to help out in any way that I can.  Just let me know what else is needed and you know that I am available.

Thanks a bunch!

Hello Evangeline,

I didn’t get a chance to thank you after the conference.  I learned a lot of great info and appreciate all the hard work it took to put it together.  Keep doing what you do because you are inspiring many.

Thanks,

Greetings,

I just wanted to say that this event was phenomenal!  I truly appreciate the opportunity to network and learn crucial information about going to law school.  I hope to take part in it again next year as a volunteer.  I thank all the speakers, the panelists, and prospective law students that took the time to speak with me and even take a picture!  I wish the best for you, and I hope we can stay in touch.  Thank you so much again!  It truly was a blessing!

P.S. I especially want to thank Mrs. Evangeline Mitchell for all of her hard work.  She sacrificed her sleep just to make sure that I was able to enjoy this experience.  That really meant a lot to me and motivates me to not only become a successful attorney/judge, but also to reach out to my community and make sure the next generation is informed and well prepared.  May God bless you in all of your endeavors.  See you soon!

Dear Evangeline,

This is ***. I hope you can remember me. I came to the NBPL Conference this past October. Not only did I have a magnificent time and learn SO much pertinent information, but I was also blessed with a Princeton Review scholarship! God has truly used this organization to make an impact on my life, and I pray that it will continue to help young aspiring attorneys accomplish their goals and dreams. I want to inform you that, so far, I have received two acceptance letters, one from *** and the other from *** Law School. ** was a school that I had my eye on for a long time, and I'm grateful that they not only offered me a seat for the fall, but they also offered me $6,000! I do have some decisions to make. Why? Because *** has offered me a full ride!!! God has truly
blown my mind! My LSAT score was far from the greatest, but by the grace of God, I was still able to get into law school with financial help! I was speechless when I first found out. I've been meaning to give you an update, but I've just been so busy. Although I graduate in May, this has been my busiest college semester yet (I'm taking 17 credits). Now that I'm on spring break, I'm able to share this wonderful news with you! Because of what you and your organization have done for me, I will always consider NBPLC my family.

I hope to make a final decision this week, and if you have any advice or suggestions, PLEASE feel free to share. I look forward to seeing and hearing from you again!

P.S. I have to just say that many of the contacts I made in Houston are still my friends to this day. Jerome from University of Iowa helped me out tremendously with my personal statement, and I've kept in touch with so many others. Even though my LSAT score wasn't that great, the Princeton Review Scholarship did WONDERS for me! Not only was I humbled when I saw my practice scores, but I truly believe that it led me to the law school that God had in store for me. I was able to have so much wisdom and discernment because of the things I learned in the
conference. You should see how I was able to help some of my friends out because I gained so much information from your program. Thank you so very much again for all that you have done and continue to do!
